I originally called this "Mashoooga". Don't get me wrong I love the music of Meshuggah... but at the time when they started trending along with bands like Fear Factory...I couldn't help but see all the imitation bands all of a sudden writing everything using that rhythmic note-cropping device. I like it,,, but I hate that "musicians" just stole the concept and used it as a watered-down version of the REAL thing. No originality in plagiarizing a band...no honor in it---but maybe you can SELL something that way? What made me disgusted about that is how these people are such band-wagon jumping parasites,,,they don't care about the art, they only want to be popular, and rock stars. I witnessed the phenomenon several times with these people... their style, taste, outlook, and sadly....their music changed with whatever trendy thing that was happening at the time. So more fittingly,,,I thought the title "Identity Crisis" was better. I'm likely a hypocrite on some levels,,,but I've basically been the same my whole life... I do my best to just play what I want...and try to fill out my own shoes, which doesn't make me better or worse,,,,but I can say I'm being my self--- which is pretty shot-out if I gotta be honest...haha
